*New* SUPRT
Today's Field Brief shares updates and reminders for service providers who collect and report data for the State Opioid and Stimulant Response grants (SOS 4.0).
iPortal Access
The new portal for entering the SAMHSA Unified Performance Reporting Tool (SUPRT) data has been launched by the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). All users (including past GPRA iPortal users) must request access to the SOS SUPRT app before entering data. Once access is granted, enter data directly into the iPortal. See this email communication for more details.
Update on SOS Consenting
SOS Consenting
During the initial two SUPRT data collection training sessions, questions came up about the consenting process for the SOS program. Given the change in how the SUPRT forms now collect data, new guidance has been provided by DBH. Please note that updated guidance may be forthcoming in the weeks and months ahead. GRC will update SOS grantees as updates become available.
SUPRT-Administrative: Currently, consent is not needed for SUPRT-A assessments collected on adults, since this data is pulled from client records. A signed consent/assent form is required for all clients who are under the age of 18. The new assent form can be found here: Minor Assent Form.
SUPRT-Client: With SUPRT-C, data collectors should have clients, proxies, or caregivers review the consent page that SAMHSA has included with each assessment before completing it. As noted on the consent page, individuals may indicate at any point that they do not wish to complete the SUPRT-C assessment. Declining to participate in a SUPRT-C assessment applies only to that specific assessment point (e.g., baseline, reassessment, or annual assessment). Grantee staff MUST offer SUPRT-C to the client, proxy, caregiver, or parent at each assessment point. A signed consent/assent form is required for all clients who are under the age of 18. The new assent form can be found here: Minor Assent Form.
For more information about guidelines for obtaining client consent for the SUPRT-C, please see the SUPRT-C FAQs, question 9.
SUPRT Training
Weekly offerings of the SUPRT Data Collection training will continue to be offered through mid-December. If you have not already done so, visit the Training Events | Ohio SOS Evaluation page to register for an upcoming training (each session covers the same content). With the launch of the new SOS SUPRT portal, GRC has begun developing the companion training, SOS SUPRT Data Entry: How to enter SUPRT assessments in the DBH iPortal. We plan to publish those training dates and registration links in early December.
Data Collection and FAQs
Please visit the Home | Ohio SOS Evaluation for details about the new SUPRT. The SUPRT-Administrative (A) and SUPRT-Client (C) have replaced the GPRA tool for all client-level data collection. Copies of the SUPRT-A and SUPRT-C forms are available on the Documents | Ohio SOS Evaluation page. See the FAQs | Ohio SOS Evaluation page for answers to common questions about SUPRT data collection, including how to transition existing SOS 4.0 clients who have a GPRA to the SUPRT.
